I agree with your agreement as I also took some huge steps in 1998-9 to ensure that I would live to atleast see 30. Now that I have seen 30 I am not that impressed, but atleast Ive got to do and see some cool shit that I never would have had I continued on the path I was on(and still more to see I hope).
